There are many recreational activities to engage in Fairfax County. Fairfax is home to the only national park for the performing arts, Wolftrap. Wolftrap is a great outing with a sprawling lawn for picnics and a great view from any seat in the covered amphitheatre. I recently saw the Beach Boys there (for about the 15th time) with my daughter, and we had Fun, Fun, Fun.
Shows include, light operas, shows (Like Pirates of Penzance and Les Miserables) the symphony, ballets and pop acts including George Thorogood, Chris Isaak, Kenny Rogers, BB King, Herbie Hancock, The Black Crowes etc. They also offer a restaurant and The Barnes of Wolftrap continues through the winter. You can find lots more information at http://www.wolf-trap.org.
Other recreational opportunities include Great Falls National park which offers hiking, kayaking and watching rock climbers. There is a $3.00 fee. You can even bring Fido as long as you keep him/her on a leash. Find more info at http://www.nps.gov
